Renae Major ~ Artist
Renae Major grew up on a farm in North Dakota and has an interest in a diverse array of subjects and horses in particular. Major has always been inspired by the American landscape and the wetlands of the prairie sustain a variety of wildlife and provide an abundance of subject matter for an artist. Her admiration for the land and animals has made her aware of how fragile these gifts are. Working in oil and acrylic, Major’s art feature landscapes, equines and wildlife and she portrays each subject’s natural behavior and habitat. Major received art instruction at the Minneapolis School of Fine Art and through painting courses at the Virginia Museum of Fine Art and other Richmond area workshops. Her professional memberships include the Bon Air Artists Association and the Virginia Equine Artists Association, for whom she currently serves as secretary.
