Willa Frayser ~ Richmond, Virginia
Barn Buddies
Oil on Canvas/Framed
Artwork: 16" x 20"
$950 Interested in purchasing this artwork? Email us: buyart@veaa.org
This painting portrays a very emotional moment between horse and rider. This particular scene was taken from an old photo take from Twin Hickory Stables in Glen Allen, Virginia. This wonderful old barn was owned by Bernerd Nash and was an institution in the Richmond area for riding lessons and boarding. Probably anyone who has ever ridden a horse has been to Twin Hickory at sometime in their lives. Unfortunately, after Bernard passed on the property was sold and is no longer there.
I painted this in silhouette which allows the viewer to enjoy the moment without the hindrance of detail. This painting is offered for sale, but I can also do a similar portrait using photos of the horse and rider as long as it is a side view of both subjects. Please contact me for further information.
Ziggy
Oil on Canvas
Artwork: 14" x 18"
SOLD Interested in purchasing this artwork? Email us: buyart@veaa.org
Ziggy is a wonderful Quarter horse gelding owned by Crystal Kornblau of Manakin-Sabot, Virginia. He is not only a sweet, kind and gentle sorrel, he is also one of two horses that Crystal uses as her equine partner in Cowboy Mounted Shooting. Crystal has attained a Level 3 standing in the Mid-Atlantic Women's Division with Ziggy and her other horse, Big Red. Cowboy Mounted Shooting consists of rider and horse negotiating a designated pattern, while shooting all the balloons on top of poles, in the best time possible. It is not only a fun sport to try (which I have!), but great to watch! You can learn more about the sport at www.CMSA.com.
Palahai
Oil on Canvas
Artwork: 8" x 10"
SOLD Interested in purchasing this artwork? Email us: buyart@veaa.org
I first met Palahai and his friend and owner, Wendy Dubiel, when I moved my horse to Running Cedar Farm in Manakin-Sabot in the late 1990s. He was a very young Chestnut Thoroughbred at that time, and very green, but with a wonderful attitude and temperament. Wendy and I spent many great times riding together, whether schooling in the ring, or taking quiet trail rides since both of our horses were Thoroughbreds and the goal was to keep them as quiet as possible. Palahai has been shown in Hunter under Saddle very successfully at Summerhill Farm, Spring Valley Equestrian Center and Deep Run. He has recently become the riding partner for Wendy's granddaughter, Maria. This partnership is proving to be very successful as their bond grows. Palahai is now a young 13 years old and will continue to be a true equine friend to both Wendy and Maria for many years.
